Wolverhampton Wanderers are mourning the loss of former wing-half Fred Kemp, who passed away at the age of 80.
What happened?
Kemp made just three senior appearances for Wolverhampton Wanderers during his time at Molineux. He initially joined the club as an apprentice in April 1961, before signing professional forms with the Old Gold two years later.
Career overview
Kemp played wing-half in his early days for Wolverhampton Wanderers, before converting to half-back later in his career. He made his professional debut for the club in a First Division clash at home to Leeds United in December 1964.
Life after football
After his playing days came to an end, Kemp remained involved in football, leading the former players’ charity team, while also operating a business selling furniture to offices and schools. His son-in-law, John Marshall, a former Fulham midfielder, would eventually go on to work for Wolverhampton Wanderers as head of recruitment between 2015 and 2021.
