Ladislav Krejci is expected to be fit for Wolverhampton Wanderers' return to Championship action after the international break. The club captain has been nursing a calf strain but national team staff believe it is only a minor issue.

Radek Bejbl, an assistant coach with the Czech Republic setup, provided the update after Krejci joined the squad ahead of their upcoming fixtures. "He has a strained calf following a demanding schedule, but we think it should be fine within a few days," Bejbl said. The 27-year-old defender missed Wolves' last outing, a 1-0 victory over West Brom on 20 September, due to the problem.

Krejci has made two league appearances since his permanent move from Girona was completed in the summer, having initially joined on loan in 2025. He marked his English second-tier debut with a goal in the 2-2 draw against Birmingham City earlier this month. His absence was felt as Wolves handled a demanding schedule that has yielded one win, one draw and three defeats from their last five matches, a run of form they will be keen to improve upon.

International duty and club focus

The timing of the injury coincided with Krejci's call-up to lead his country. The Czechs face Croatia this Saturday before further matches against England and Spain during the break. Wolves will be relieved the issue is not serious, especially after they turned down interest from Real Sociedad to keep the defender at Molineux.

With Raúl Jiménez also currently sidelined, manager Gary O'Neil will be managing his squad carefully. The immediate focus after the international window is a trip to face Middlesbrough on 10 October. Fans can check the full schedule on the club's fixtures page. Krejci's expected return will be a boost as Wolves look to build on their recent win and climb the standings.
