Wolverhampton Wanderers have named Cesar Peixoto as their new head coach. Peixoto replaces Rob Edwards on a two-year deal at Molineux after the previous boss was sacked last week.

What happened?

The 46-year-old joins from Portuguese club Gil Vicente, having won 16 of 46 games in charge since joining in 2025.

Executive chairman Nathan Shi said: "We are delighted to welcome Cesar to Wolves. Throughout our discussions with him, it became clear very quickly that he possesses many of the qualities we believe are important for the future of this football club."

Peixoto explained his plans to hand freedom to his players as they look to make a swift return to the Premier League. "Firstly, I'm a very demanding coach," he said. "But, I believe in giving others maximum freedom and maximum responsibility.
