Wolverhampton Wanderers have signed World Cup star Raul Jimenez. The fan favourite agreed to return to the club just days before the tournament began.
What happened?
Raul Jimenez scored three goals in four games ahead of Mexico's exit to England. Former midfielder Dave Edwards believes Jimenez's starring role at the World Cup proves just how good the signing will be for Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Why it matters for Wolverhampton Wanderers
Edwards said: 'The more we have seen of Raul Jimenez at the World Cup, the more it has looked like absolute gold dust of a signing for Wolves.' He's a massive player for the upcoming seasons and hopefully he gets his rest and comes back fit and firing.
What comes next?
There was optimism after the signing of Kieran Trippier and with a new manager coming in there's always a little bit of optimism of what might come. Wolverhampton Wanderers are serious about really going after the championship this year. Jimenez has just taken all that optimism to new levels, not just getting the signing done but then seeing what Jimenez has then done subsequently in the World Cup. Some fans even wanted Mexico to win against their beloved England because they have such a connection with Jimenez more than any other England player. There would have been more clubs interested in him before the World Cup, but undoubtedly there would have been a vast amount of interest if Jimenez was a free agent right now going into this summer transfer window.
