Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Kieran Trippier has set the record straight on speculation surrounding his contract with the club. The 35-year-old signed with Wolves in June, becoming the team's first summer signing. Trippier has now spoken out about the rumors, calling them 'nonsense.' He revealed that he was on holiday with his kids when the reports emerged, and he was simply looking forward to returning to the team. Trippier met with former head coach Rob Edwards before the end of last season to discuss the Wolves project, and he ultimately chose to sign with the club. Edwards was surprisingly sacked after the season, but Trippier says he never considered ripping up his contract. 'I've read it all, that I was looking to rip my contract up, and all this nonsense,' Trippier said. 'But I was on holiday with my kids and I was just looking forward to reporting back to Wolves.' Trippier also spoke about his relationship with Edwards, saying he had good chats with the manager before his departure. 'I met Rob a couple of times before the end of the season, I had a couple of conversations with him, he's a great guy, but this is football,' Trippier said. 'I'm not going to lie to you, it's something I wasn't expecting of course, but it's football. Players come and go, managers come and go, but the new manager has been fantastic, we had a great conversation on my first day, and I like his work method, I like the way he plays.' Trippier has now settled into life at Wolves and is looking forward to the new season.
