Wolves Head Coach Declares No Need for New Signings

Wolves head coach Cesar Peixoto said on Tuesday that the club need not sign new players despite injuries to Kieran Trippier and Yerson Mosquera, who could miss up to eight games.

Peixoto told reporters that the squad already has the depth required to cover the injuries. "We have five centre-backs, we have three right-backs, so we don't need to go to the market to change the situation," he said.

Squad Depth and Current Players

When asked about the status of Santi Bueno and Ladislav Krejci, Peixoto confirmed that both remain at the club and will train with the team. "Krejci needs more time to be fit enough to play, but Santi is in a better position to play," he added.

The manager also announced that Hugo Bueno will start against Preston after a minor groin injury kept him out of the Blackburn game. Wolves were considering offloading either H. Bueno or David Moller Wolfe, but Peixoto wants to keep both to maintain competition for the position.

Goalkeeper Situation

With Dan Bentley’s departure, Wolves are looking for another goalkeeper. Peixoto said the club will seek a quality addition but does not want to bring in a player merely to be a backup. "We want quality in the team. We try to find a solution with quality to improve that position," he said.

He added that the future of Jose Sa and Sam Johnstone will be decided when the market closes. "We don't want to bring players just to be one more number, we want to bring players to improve the team," Peixoto explained.

Peixoto’s Philosophy

The head coach emphasized the importance of internal competition. "I think it's important the team has two players per position to fight each other, to stay competitive during the week, to stay more competitive in the games," he said.

Peixoto concluded that the club’s depth allows them to focus on getting Trippier and Mosquera back as soon as possible rather than rushing to the transfer market.

Wolves will continue to monitor the fitness of their injured players and the potential signings of goalkeepers, centre-backs, strikers and wingers. The manager remains confident that the squad can compete without additional signings until the transfer window closes.
