Cesar Peixoto has detailed the key roles of his six-man technical team at Wolverhampton Wanderers, a group integral to the club's start to the Championship season. The head coach, speaking during the international break, explained how each member contributes to the daily work at Compton Park, with five of the six having previously worked with him at Portuguese club Gil Vicente.
Peixoto is supported by assistant coaches Leandro Morais and Diogo Coutinho, first-team analysts Rodrigo Fernandes and Andre Lopes, physical performance coach Sergio Teixeira, and goalkeeper coach Pedro Miranda. The coaching core
Leandro Morais, who has worked with Peixoto for two years, holds specific responsibility for set-pieces. "Leandro’s is one of my assistants and manages the set pieces," Peixoto said. "We’ve worked together for two years, and in the modern game set pieces are very important, in England and the Championship."
Diogo Coutinho, a seven-year collaborator with the head coach, designs and manages the training schedule. "Diogo manages the training sessions and is an important part of our work," Peixoto explained. "He plans and proposes the sessions, designing exercises, and after we discuss them all together and run the sessions."
Analysis and preparation
The analytical side is handled by Rodrigo Fernandes, with the head coach for around five years, and Andre Lopes, who joined the staff at Molineux. They focus on dissecting upcoming opponents. Physical preparation and data monitoring, including GPS work, fall to Sergio Teixeira, another five-year colleague. Goalkeeper coach Pedro Miranda, alongside developing Wolves' stoppers, analyses opposition goalkeepers.
Peixoto emphasised the value of shared history and trust. "The guys who’ve worked with me a long time know my idea of the game, and me as a leader, and we trust each other and our work, our idea of the game," he said. This backroom team operates within the wider support structure at the club.
