Wolverhampton Wanderers have marked their 150th anniversary with the release of a limited-edition commemorative book, a detailed 350-page history of the club from its 1877 founding to the present day. Titled 'Wolves At 150', the publication is limited to just 1,877 individually numbered copies, a nod to the year the club was formed as St Lukes FC.
A museum-backed history
The book was penned over 18 months by a team including club historian Peter Crump and museum manager Sam Warrington, drawing extensively on the Wolves Museum collection. It offers a season-by-season look back. "It has been an honour and privilege to help write the official 150th anniversary book which is part of our 150th legacy," said Peter Crump. The project utilised the club's extensive archive, with many items carefully chosen to create a vibrant picture of Wolves' past.
For the supporters
Sam Warrington, a lifelong fan, emphasised the book was created as a tangible keepsake for supporters. "Eighteen months and almost 160,000 words later and we’re there," Warrington said. "I’m so proud to have been part of this project, and as a die-hard supporter myself, it is an absolute dream to be able to share my love of Wolves and our history with others like me." The book includes never-before-heard stories and quotes from former players and managers who assisted in bringing the club's story to life. Each double-page spread is dedicated to a single season, with focussed insights on imagery and items from all 150 campaigns.
How to order
Priced at £35 plus postage and packing, the book can be pre-ordered exclusively from publishers Curtis Sport. All fans who pre-order will have their name printed in the back of the publication. The scheduled release is for late October, with delivery following shortly after the exact date is confirmed; the cover design is still subject to change. This release comes as this season's squad prepares for a key Black Country derby, with West Brom visiting Molineux this weekend. Gary O'Neil's side will be looking to improve on a recent run of form that has seen one win, one draw and three defeats in their last five outings, including a 1-0 loss at Everton last time out. The team's next fixture sees them travel to face Aston Villa at Villa Park on Saturday, October 19th. Fans can check the full upcoming schedule on the club's fixtures page and review this season's squad list here. The book serves as a permanent record of the club's heritage as it looks forward to its next chapter, both on and off the pitch.
