Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Bromwich Albion have issued a stark warning to supporters ahead of the first Black Country derby in the league for five years. The clubs stressed there will be serious consequences for any violence or disorder when they meet at Molineux this Sunday.

Consequences of past trouble

The joint statement, released ahead of the Championship fixture, follows major trouble during an FA Cup meeting between the sides in 2024. That match saw 43 people arrested, with 12 charged and sentenced and five handed permanent bans from their clubs. Play was also halted for 38 minutes during a league game two years ago after police were assaulted, missiles were thrown and flares set off.

Outcomes from the cup tie demonstrated that disorder, violence and criminal behaviour carry significant consequences and will continue to be dealt with robustly by the clubs and police. Enhanced stewarding, policing, robust ticketing controls and additional safety measures will be in place for the upcoming match.

Appeal to supporters

The clubs have asked fans to only use tickets bought through official channels and to sit in their correct designated home or away areas. Anyone found attempting to access, or being in, an incorrect area will be refused entry or ejected and may face further sanction. Supporters are also urged to arrive in good time to allow for security searches and to follow all instructions from stewards and police.

"The overwhelming majority of Albion and Wolverhampton Wanderers supporters attend this fixture to support their team passionately and responsibly, and we are confident that will once again be the case," the clubs said.
