Cesar Peixoto was left to rue missed opportunities as Wolverhampton Wanderers suffered their first home Championship defeat of the season. Bolton Wanderers left Molineux with a 3-1 victory on Tuesday night, a result the Wolves head coach described as harsh.
Peixoto told reporters his team created enough to deserve more from the game. "The 3-1 scoreline is an unfair result because we created a lot of chances," he said. He pointed to a need for greater sharpness in the final third, stating his players must be more clinical from the edge of the box and win their duels inside it.
The defeat follows a 1-0 loss at Middlesbrough last Friday, leaving Wolves with a recent form record of two wins and three losses from their last five outings. Jean-Ricner Bellegarde had equalised for Wolves early in the second half, cancelling out Atsuki Ito's opener, but late goals from Sam Dalby and Josh Sheehan secured the points for the visitors.
Bolton manager Steven Schumacher hailed his team's performance as one of his best. "It’s right up there because they were a Premier League team last season," he said, referencing Wolves' top-flight status a year ago.
Wolves must now regroup quickly ahead of a trip to face Burnley on Friday. Top scorer Fer López, who has four goals this season, was among those who missed chances before Bellegarde's leveller.
